(Kentucky) - June 15th is known as Elder Abuse Awareness Day. In a post from the Kentucky State Police, they warn elders about the risks of scams.
Elder abuse doesn’t have to be physical. Financial scams that exploit older adults are a serious and growing problem. In Kentucky, there has been a dramatic rise in texting scams, and senior citizens are often the targets.
KSP reminds individuals to never share personal information over the phone like a social security number. They also say that legitimate businesses will never take payment with pre-paid cards.
If you suspect a scam or receive a suspicious message, report it immediately by calling 888-432-9257.
