(Madison, Ind.) – The Indiana State Police, along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office worked together on an investigation that led to the arrest of 46-year-old Donna Combs, of Lexington, Ind.

On Monday, March 1, Combs entered a guilty plea for Dealing Methamphetamine (level3 felony) in the Jefferson County Circuit Court.

The investigation began on September 3, 2020, when officers from multiple law enforcement agencies went to a home on South Rogers Road to serve an arrest warrant. Upon the arrival of officers, Ms. Combs answered the door and then exited the home allowing the officers to search for the suspect of the warrant.

Several items of evidence of suspected drug use were seen in plain view of the officers, including glass vials and pipes containing suspected methamphetamine residue. The residence was secured and a search warrant for the property was obtained.

During the search, police officers located several purses belonging to and containing identifying markers for Donna Combs.  In one of those purses, officers found several syringes, in another, officers found a digital scale and US currency.  In a third purse, belonging to Combs, officers found a black earbud case containing plastic bags containing a crystal substance weighing approximately seven (7) grams.

A search warrant for Combs’s cell phone was also obtained during the investigation and revealed numerous messages consistent with selling to and obtaining methamphetamine for other people.

Prosecutor David Sutter was pleased with the sentence in the case, stating, “This was a cooperative effort between the Indiana State Police, Sheriff’s Department and our Investigator that resulted in identifying another drug dealer in our community and sending the offender to prison.  I appreciate their good work that led to this outcome.”

Combs was sentenced to 9 years, fully executed.  She has been incarcerated since her September arrest and will serve the remainder of her sentence at the Indiana Department of Correction.
