Madison, Indiana (July 28, 2025) –The City of Madison, in partnership with One Southern Indiana Regional Development Authority and the Heritage Trail Conservancy, will host a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of Phase I of the Madison-Hanover Connector Trail.
This exciting infrastructure project will extend from downtown Madison, branching off the existing Heritage Trail, across Crooked Creek and west toward Clifty Falls State Park. Once complete, the trail will provide a scenic and seamless connection between downtown Madison and the south entrance of Clifty Falls, enhancing mobility and access for bicyclists, walkers, and hikers. This project is a key initiative in the City’s 5-Year Parks Master Plan and supports the regional vision of a world-class trail system spanning five counties.

The Madison-Hanover Connector Trail is a transformative investment in outdoor recreation, regional connectivity, and quality of life. Phase I marks the beginning of a multi-phase effort to build safer, more accessible trail systems that link key community assets and support long-term economic and recreational growth.
