MADISON MAN ARRESTED AFTER FIRING GUN IN WALMART PARKING LOT

No Threat to the Community

                                 

On Monday March 4, 2024, at approximately 06:53 p.m., the Madison Police Department responded to Wal-Mart [567 Ivy Tech Drive] in reference to a male subject firing a gun in the parking lot.

When officers arrived on scene, they located Dalton D. Rowlett, 25, Madison, and were able to take him into custody. Officers recovered spent shell casings, as well as the firearm used in the commission of the crime.

No one was injured during the incident, and based on surveillance footage and witness statements, it is believed that Rowlett fired the weapon into the air.

There is currently no immediate threat to the public regarding this situation.

Rowlett has been initially charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony.

All criminal charges are merely accusations and Rowlett has the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.
