(Madison, IN) - 79-year-old William “Bill” Higbie of Madison, was arrested on June 18, after police found thousands of disturbing images and videos involving children on his electronic devices.

The investigation began in late March when Officer Colton Fox of the Madison Police Department received a tip about possible child sexual abuse material. He worked with Detective Ricky Harris to get a search warrant for Higbie’s home. During the search on March 28, officers seized several devices.

After examining the evidence, the Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant. Investigators found about 20,000 files showing children in sexual situations.

Higbie now faces a serious felony charge of child exploitation and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
