February 8, 2023, Madison Police arrested Darren K. Stewart 50, Madison, Indiana, for level six felony possession of methamphetamine. Stewart was taken into custody after a traffic stop executed by Officer Curtis Shellman, at the corner of Fillmore and Baltimore Streets.
Officer Trent Smith and his K-9 partner Colt responded to the traffic stop for assistance. Colt performed an open air sniff around the vehicle in which Stewart was operating, and gave Officer Smith a positive indication for the presence of narcotics. During the subsequent search, officers located methamphetamine on Stewart's person.
Darren K. Stewart was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Captain Season Jackson and Sergeant Aaron Watson assisted. Stewart has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
