Investigation led to arrest

MADISON POLICE ARRESTED A MADISON MAN ON attempted sexual misconduct with a minor and child solicitation following an investigation by Madison Police.
Douglas W. Smith, 53, was charged after an investigation after he allegedly began an online conversation with an underage child,
He agreed to meet the juvenile to engage in sexual activity. Smith arrived at the location to meet the juvenile but was instead met by Madison Police.
He was charged with Attempted Sexual Misconduct with a Minor and Child Solicitation, both Level 4 felonies; and Dissemination of Harmful Material to a Minor, a Level 6 felony.
He is in the Jefferson County Jail
