Madison Man Arrested On Numerous Drug Charges

The two dealing charge stems from the amount and packaging of the methamphetamine

August 29, 2023, at approximately 8:10 PM Madison Police Officer Curtis Shelpman executed a traffic stop near the intersection of Second & Broadway Streets.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jess A. Thevenow, 46, Madison, Indiana, was found to be operating a Dodge Truck with a suspended Indiana driver’s license.

While speaking with Thevenow, Officer Shelpman detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  With probable cause to search established, officers located marijuana on Thevenow’s person, along with three baggies of a white crystal-like substance.  The crystal substance field tested positive as methamphetamine.

Thevenow was taken into custody without incident and faces preliminary alleged charges of – DEALING METHAMPHETAMINE L-2 FELONY, POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE L-4 FELONY, MAINTAINING A COMMON NUISANCE L-6 FELONY and POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA CLASS B MISDEMEANOR.  The level two dealing charge stems from the amount and packaging of the methamphetamine.

Captain Season Jackson, Sergeant Aaron Watson, and Officer Cody Short assisted Shelpman with the investigation.  Jess A. Thevenow has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
