Madison Man in Jail Following Residental Entry Charges

May 14, 2022, at approximately 11:32 PM Madison Police responded to a reported burglary in progress, at an apartment building, in the 100 block of E. Main Street.  Victim reported returning home and finding an unknown male in her living room.  

Upon arrival, officers located a male subject fitting the description, standing in the hallway of the apartment building.  When ordered to stop the male fled and broke into another apartment, in an apparent attempt to evade officers. After a short foot pursuit through the second occupied apartment, officers were able to take Kevin L. Duke 31, Madison, Indiana, into custody.  Duke was found to be intoxicated and the department issued taser was utilized, by officers, for safe apprehension purposes. No significant injuries were sustained.  

Kevin L. Duke faces preliminary alleged charges of residential entry L-6 felony, resisting arrest A-Misdemeanor, and Public Intoxication A-misdemeanor.  Duke has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  The investigation was led by Officer Ben Flint, with the assistance of Sergeant Aaron Watson.
