Madison Man on Parole Arrested Following Brief Chase

Parol Agents had come to the house to do a home check

On November 10, 2025, MPD officers were called to assist Indiana Parole Agents in the 2400 block of Franks Drive. Parole had come to do a home check on a parolee, 34 year old Stephen McManus of Madison, who fled on foot when they arrived.

MPD began searching the area, and soon after Jefferson County Central Dispatch began receiving calls of a man running through the wood line near Bedford Falls and Forest Drive roads in the Miles Ridge Neighborhood. Additionally, a caller reported the man attempted to enter their residence through a back door, which was locked.

Officers Cody Lewis, Kyle Potter, and Coley Arvin responded. Officers located McManus in the woods between Bedford Falls Road and US 421. McManus fled from the Officers and attempted to open a locked vehicle parked at a home on US 421 before fleeing again on foot. As Officers gave chase to McManus, they radioed their location and direction.

Sheriff Flint, Chief Deputy Laura Pickel of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and Interim Chief Rick Mundt of the Madison Police Department were able to intercept the chase. Chief Deputy Pickel deployed her K9 Partner Kuno, who apprehended McManus.

McManus was checked at Norton’s Kings Daughters Hospital before being released to Indiana Parole Agents. McManus will face new felony charges in Jefferson County, Indiana relating to attempted burglary and attempted entry of a motor vehicle.

Captain Season Jackson, Sgt. William Watterson of MPD assisted in the case.  Deputies Ryan Harrison and Kevin Fry of the Jefferson County Sheriff's office also assisted.
