Crash remains under investigation

Tuesday morning, at approximately 5:30 am, the Indiana State Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash near Madison, Indiana that sent a moped driver to a Louisville, Kentucky area hospital with serious injuries.
The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post Crash Reconstruction Team indicated that a 2017 Honda moped, being driven by Matthew Redd, age 36, Madison, was traveling westbound on County Road 400 North, just east of US 421. Redd’s vehicle was struck from behind by a westbound 2020 Chevrolet Equinox being driven by Delma Richards, age 39, Madison.
As a result of the crash, Redd sustained serious injuries. He was transported by ambulance to King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison before being flown to University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky for further treatment. Richards was not injured in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Toxicology results are pending.
The Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and other Jefferson County first responders.
