MPD Arrest Kentucky Man On Domestic Violence Charges

Due to the battery occurring in front of a child, the domestic battery charges are enhanced.

 

(Madison, Ind.) – On August 17, Madison Police arrested and Eminence man on the charges of intimidation, domestic battery, criminal confinement, and strangulation.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. the Kentucky State Police reported that Jason Downey, 30, was in the Madison area and was reportedly going to kill his fiancée, and the couple's child.

The fiancée and child were reportedly in the vehicle with Downey.

Madison Senior Patrolman Dylan Barnes located Downey, his fiancée, and their minor child, on Vaughn Drive at Jefferson Street.

The initial investigation by Officer Barnes’ found that Downey had allegedly battered his wife while they were staying at a local hotel, in front of their child. Due to the battery occurring in front of a child, the domestic battery charges are enhanced.

As a result of the investigation, Officer Barnes found probable cause to arrest Jason Downey. The Kentucky State Police are also investigating Downey for battery that had reportedly occurred in the State of Kentucky as well.

Downey’s fiancée is reportedly the victim in the KSP investigation as well.

Officer Barnes was assisted with the investigation by Officers Trent Smith, Brad Demaree, and  Zack Nicholson.

Jason Downey has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
