MPD Makes Four Weekend Arrests

Four arrests took place over the weekend due to narcotic-related charges and outstanding warrants.

(Madison, Ind.) – Four arrests took place over the weekend due to narcotic-related charges and outstanding warrants.

On May 7, Madison Police Patrolman Chad Wehner and Detective Shawn Scudder assisted the Probation Department with a home search on Oak Hill Drive.  During the search of the residence, occupied by 41-year-old Ricky A. Sells marijuana (level 6 w/prior conviction) drug paraphernalia (class a-misdemeanor) and methamphetamine (level 6 felony) was located.  Sells was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail for the possession charges.

On May 7, Madison Police Patrolman Jared Sweet arrested 36-year-old Darrell M. Atkins, of Lexington, Indiana, and 33-year-old Robert B. Davis, of Madison.  Officer Sweet responded to a suspicious person's call in the 400 block of Clifty Drive.  During Officer Sweet's investigation into the call, he found Atkins to have five outstanding bond revocation warrants out of Jefferson County.  Davis was found to be in possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony).

On May 8, Madison Police Patrolman Josh Nolan arrested 24-year-old Tyler L. Kennedy, Jeffersonville, Indiana, for possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony), possession of marijuana (class B-misdemeanor), and operating without a license (class C-misdemeanor).  The arrest was the result of a traffic stop executed by Patrolman Nolan.  During the stop, Officer Nolan detected the odor of marijuana and observed drug paraphernalia in view. 

Darrell M. Atkins, Robert B. Davis, Ricky A. Sells and Tyler L. Kennedy all have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.   All charges are alleged.
