14th annual event

The Big Oaks Conservation Society and Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge are hosting the 14th annual Outdoor Women at Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, June 09, 2018.

The event is held at the historic Old Timbers Lodge. Outdoor Women at Big Oaks is a one-day program designed to offer women ages 12 and over the opportunity to gain valuable in-the-field skills in an environment that encourages fun and success in the outdoors.

The award- winning program teaches outdoor skills to women through a variety of courses including fishing, archery, shooting sports, wild game cooking, falconry, canoeing/kayaking, bird watching and much more.

This event also fosters a greater appreciation for wildlife conservation and allows women to meet others who share their enthusiasm for the outdoors.

Registration forms can be downloaded from Call the refuge office at 812-273-0783 to receive a mailed registration form. Classes are limited in size, so early registration is recommended. The deadline for early discounted registration is May 6th: The registration fee includes a choice of 4 courses, continental breakfast, lunch, use of equipment and supplies, and a day pass to Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge.
