Controlled burn scheduled for today

(Jefferson County, Ind.) - Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge will be kicking off our Spring Prescribed Fire season today with a Prescribed Fire.

This fire will be in Jefferson County on the south end of the refuge.  Throughout the spring we will be conducting burns on both Big Oaks and Muscatatuck when conditions allow.

We do these prescribed fires for wildlife habitat improvement and to lessen the chances of severe wildfires.
