Rep. Houchin Requests Over $14 Million in Community Project Funding for Southern Indiana

One project has been tabbed for the City of Madison.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced today that over $14 million in Community Project Funding she requested for Indiana’s 9th District will move forward in the House Appropriations process.

Nine projects were driven by local leaders and community input, ranging from public safety and water infrastructure to parks, sidewalks, and trail improvements.

In southeastern Indiana, funding will support the City of Madison’s Stormwater Mitigation Project to reduce flooding and improve water quality along U.S. 42.

The project includes building two gravity-fed detention facilities designed to mimic natural wetlands, capturing and filtering stormwater runoff that contains pollutants, debris, and sewage.

“In all, we submitted nine requests to the House Appropriations Committee on behalf of Southern Indiana communities, and I am pleased all nine have been included,” said Rep. Houchin. “Community Project Funding can provide federal support to help make needed local improvements a reality. Without strong advocacy, these resources would go to other states.”
