This event is also for those who are in need of a car seat.

(Ripley County, Ind.) – This week is Child Passenger Safety Week in Indiana.

Governor Holcomb issued a proclamation on Monday recognizing September 20 through 26 as Child Passenger Safety Week, to raise awareness about the importance of proper child seat safety.

Motor vehicle crashes continue to be to the leading cause of death for children ages one to 13 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

With this information, the Ripely County Health Department will be hosting a car seat inspections day at the Versailles Police Station on Tuesday, September 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This event is also for those who are in need of a car seat.

There are still slots open for this car seat inspection day and if you would like to schedule an appointment you can call Lexi Bushhorn at (812) 689-5751.

Indiana law requires children less than eight years of age to be properly restrained in a federally approved child restraint system. Although seat belts are required for all ages, the driver is responsible for making sure that all passengers in their vehicle who are under the age of 16 are properly restrained.
