The selection criteria includes leadership, honesty, good character, showing proper respect to the U.S. Flag, and having love for God and Country.

(Madison, Ind.) - Shawe Memorial Junior, Jaylin Lee, has been selected to compete at the 2021 Hoosier Girls State.

The selection criteria includes leadership, honesty, good character, showing proper respect to the U.S. Flag, and having love for God and Country. Each year, Shawe faculty nominates a delegate for this program designed to educate Indiana students in the areas of duties, privileges, and responsibilities of citizenship.

Hoosier Girls State usually involves a week of living and learning the political system of Indiana through a mythical city, county, andstate held at Trine University; however, this summer the event will be virtual. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the female delegate.

Unfortunately, Hoosier Boys State was canceled this year due to the pandemic.
