Southwestern Schools Hires First Female Superintendent in School History

She will officially begin July 1st

                                     

Jill Goebel Mires became the first female superintendent in the 65-year history of Southwestern Schools when she was recently hired by the school board to replace current Superintendent Jeff Bates whom is retiring June 30th he has held that position since 2019

Mires, a Madison native, has been superintendent at Salem Community Schools since being hired in 2024,  Prior to that, she had been assistant superintendent.

She is a 1987 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School and 1991 graduate of Hanover College, Mires has a long career in education in Jefferson County. She was at Prince of Peace Schools for 21 years, Madison Consolidated Schools (MCS) for 11 years She also taught at an elementary school in Carroll County for one year.

She obtained her principal license at Northern Kentucky University in 2009, received an education specialist degree at Indiana State in 2017, and completed doctorate course work at Indiana State in 2020.

She owns and operates Mires School of Dance in Madison, and officially begins her duties on July 1st.
