Project is scheduled to be completed in October

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind.— Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Paul H. Rohe Company Inc. closed State Road 7 today, April 17 to begin slide repair work in Jefferson County. The project site is located on S.R. 7 between Terrace Drive and Main Street in downtown Madison.

State Road 7 is anticipated to stay closed through late October, while the contractor completes work to stabilize the roadway and hillside with soil nails and shotcrete. Guardrail installation will follow. The official detour route for the closure will follow Main Street to Clifty Hollow Road to S.R. 62/Clifty Drive. State Road 7 will be open for access to local businesses.

The contract was awarded to Paul H. Rohe Company, Inc. in January for $2.9 million. INDOT reminds drivers to use extra caution, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
