 
                            Along with other charges
December 22, 2018, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Bradley Demaree arrested Carlos D. Smith Jr. 29, Madison, Indiana, and Anna M. Morris 23, Madison, Indiana, for several property / narcotic related crimes. While on patrol, Deputy Demaree noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 2200 block of State Road #56 on property belonging to IKE. Upon further investigation, Demaree located Smith and Morris living on the property in a tent. The suspicious vehicle (Ford Taurus) was found to have been reported stolen to the Madison Police on December 9, 2018, from the Speedway Gas Station. Located in the stolen vehicle was merchandise believed to have been stolen from Wal-Mart, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.
Carlos D. Smith Jr. and Anna M. Morris were transported to the Jefferson County Jail where they face preliminary alleged charges of Criminal Trespass – Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of Stolen Property – Level 6 Felony, False Informing – Class B Misdemeanor, Possession of Paraphernalia – Class C Misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor, Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 6 Felony, and Theft – Level 6 Felony. The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Madison Police Department and the Hanover Police Department. All charges are alleged and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
