(Vevay, Ind.) – Some changes are underway regarding law enforcement agencies in Switzerland County.

Switzerland County Sheriff Brian Morton announced this week that his office will be assisting the Vevay Police Department while they work through a staffing shortage.

Morton says his office have always assisted the Vevay Police Department, but they will be stepping up over the next few months to share the primary responding duties for town calls.

“Response times may or may not be as fast as what town residents are used to depending on the location of the on-duty deputies,” said Morton. “We will continue to strive in providing the best law enforcement service we can to the entire community, town and county.”

Morton added that Vevay Police School Resource Officer and retired Sheriff Roy Leap has been working diligently to help get new officers hired.

In other changes, David Wolf was promoted to the position of Vevay Police Chief.

Wolf replaces retiring Chief James Richards.
