Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrests In Versailles

Ripley County K9 Czar assisted at the scene.

Two people were arrested during a traffic stop after a police K9 detected the presence of drugs.

Indiana State Police conducted the traffic stop in Versailles around 2:05 a.m. on Monday. Troopers say the subjects in the car were acting nervous and suspicious, prompting a request for a police K9.

Ripley County K9 Deputy Adam Hunger and K9 partner Czar responded to the call, and Czar was deployed for an open-air sniff around the vehicle.

According to a news release, Czar indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was then conducted, where marijuana, methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia were allegedly located.

The occupants of the vehicle, Mark Crawley, 35, of Patriot, and Kelsey Roark, 22 of Osgood, were arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 felony), Driving While Suspended (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of Marijuana (Class C misdemeanor) and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
