(Switzerland County, Ind.) - At approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning a Switzerland County Deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Markland Pike and Stowtown Road. Before the deputy could make contact, the driver sped away leading to a pursuit.

The chase continued along Stowtown Road, through the intersection of State Road 56, and onto Elam Road before the driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed while attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

Switzerland County Emergency Response transported the driver to King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison for treatment of minor injuries. Additional information will be released once criminal charges have been filed and the driver is released from medical care.

East Enterprise Fire Department assisted at the scene.
