Charges enhanced with amount of narcotics found

November 12, 2022, Madison Police arrested Freda D. Davis 47, Madison, Indiana, and Amy L. Watterson, 46, Hanover, Indiana, on preliminary alleged charges of; possession of methamphetamine Level 3 Felony and maintaining a common nuisance Level 6 Felony.
Madison Police Officer Curtis Shelpman executed a traffic stop on Milton Street, near Highway #421, for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Amy Watterson and the passenger as Freda Davis. Officer Shelpman noted significant furtive movement by the vehicle occupants, prior to stopping.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Laura Pickle and her K-9 partner "KUNO" responded to Shelpman's stop for the purpose of conducting an open air sniff around the vehicle. K-9 "KUNO" gave his handler a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.
During the subsequent search, officers located approximately two (2) ounces of methamphetamine and paraphernalia associated with the use of narcotics. The alleged charges are enhanced, due to the amount of methamphetamine seized.
Freda D. Davis and Amy L. Watterson were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where they both remain incarcerated on a $25,000.00 cash bond only. Davis and Watterson have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
