The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will hold a second public meeting on Sept. 11 regarding the Milton Small Area Planning Study in Trimble and Carroll Counties.

The meeting will be an open house event held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Milton Christian Life Church, 11184 U.S. 421, Milton, KY 40045. Those interested may drop in at any time to review the build options developed following public input at the May 2025 meeting. Attendees will have the opportunity to review large-scale maps and fill out comment sheets. Representatives from KYTC and the engineering design consultant will be in attendance to answer questions.

The Milton Small Area Planning Study focuses on improvements to the Milton Madison Bridge approach, including U.S. 421 (Milton Hill), and addressing freight mobility along KY 36. The project team has reviewed public feedback, existing geometry, traffic patterns, and crash data to identify options for enhancing mobility, reliability, and safety.

Current concepts under consideration include targeted improvements within Lower Milton, potential widening of KY 36, reconstruction of U.S. 421 (Milton Hill), or exploring a new connection between Upper Milton and the Milton Madison Bridge. Information will be available through the study website, during the Sept.11 meeting, or at the Trimble County Public Library following the public meeting (35 Equity Drive, Bedford, KY 40006).

All written comments will be included in the official meeting record. Once compiled, the meeting record and supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Services, Transportation Office Building, (200 Mero St, Frankfort, KY 40622), or via kytc.openrecords@ky.gov.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), if anyone has a disability and requires accommodations, please notify KYTC by no later than Monday, Sept. 8. Please call 502-764-0481 or mail your request to 8310 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40242. Additionally, in compliance with Title VI, translation services are also offered upon request.
