Odor of Marijuana led to search

December 15, 2021, Madison Police arrested Audra E. Gray 42, Madison, Indiana, and Gerald A. Beamus 46, Louisville Kentucky, on narcotic related charges.  Sergeant Aaron Watson responded to Gray's W. Fourth Street residence for a welfare check on a child.  Sergeant Watson noted the odor of marijuana coming from the residence, which ultimately led to a search of the premises. During the search, officers located marijuana, methamphetamine, and paraphernalia associated with the use of drugs.

Audra Gray was taken into custody and faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6, possession of marijuana B/M, and possession of paraphanailia A/M.  Gerald Beamus was charged with a B/M for visiting a common nuisance.  Both Gray and Beamus have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Captain Season Jackson, Patrolman Curtis Shelpman, and the Department of Child Services assisted Sergeant Watson.
