(Madison, Ind.) – On March 27, Madison Police Patrolmen Cameron Blankenship and Trent Smith observed a black Chevrolet traveling the wrong way on West Third Street, at a high rate of speed.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop for reckless driving, the vehicle fled from the downtown Madison area, north on Michigan Hill, and eventually north on Highway 421. The pursuit then entered Ripley County, where assistance was given by Ripley County Sheriff Deputies, Indiana State Police Troopers and Jefferson County Deputies.

The successful deployment of “stop sticks,” and mechanical failure of the fleeing vehicle, brought the pursuit to an end on R200 South in Ripley County.

24-year-old David W. Osborne, of Hanover, was then taken into custody without further incident. Osborne now faces the alleged charges of driving while suspended (class a misdemeanor), possession of marijuana (class a misdemeanor), possession of scheduled narcotic (class a misdemeanor), possession of a legend drug (level 6 felony), possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony), and resisting law enforcement (level 6 felony).
