UPDATE: Identity Known of Body Recovered from Ohio River in Lawrenceburg

The male whose body was recovered from the Ohio River yesterday has been identified as Nelson William Lang, 61, of Cincinnati.

 

Update published Tuesday, July 19 at 10:27 p.m.:

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a male after he was recovered from the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg. 

Multiple agencies responded to the Ohio River near Riverwatch on Tuesday around 10:38 a.m. where witnesses observed a male struggling in the water. 

The witnesses attempted to throw the man flotation items before he went under the water. 

A search for the man lasted until around 4:00 p.m. 

According to a news release from Indiana Conservation Officers, the man's body was located approximately 40 yards from the shore in 17 feet of water. 

An autopsy will take place on Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Multiple agencies have responded to the Ohio River in search of an unknown male. 

The Dearborn County Sheriff's Office, Lawrenceburg Fire, Greendale Fire, Dearborn County Water Rescue and Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the Ohio River at Walnut Street where a male was seen yelling for help. 

According to Sheriff Shane McHenry, individuals walking on the levy tried to get to the male, but he went under and hasn't been seen since. 

No further information has been provided at this time.
