(Madison, IN) - Prince of Peace Catholic Schools presented their annual Golden Shamrock award to Mrs. Carol Vaughn and the late Mr. Raymond Vaughn. The Golden Shamrock award is the highest award to be given within Prince of Peace Catholic Schools.
The award is based off different criteria like long term support of the schools, long term community and volunteer service, as well as positive image in the community.
Mr. and Mrs. Vaugh dedicated themselves to Shawe. Mr. Vaughn was a graduate of the first Shawe class of 1956. Their six children attended Shawe as well as grandkids and even great grandchildren.
Mr. Vaughn did everything he could to help the schools, such as helping with electrical issues and being there whenever anything was needed. Mrs. Vaughn formed the Legion of Mary organization for Junior High aged students and conducted many visits to residents at local nursing homes. She also tutored several students over the years.
