WEDNESDAY.

Shawe Memorial took on ORVC rival Jac Cen Del and despite out hitting them 10-7 dropped a 11-6 decision Wednesday night  at home. Jacob Hertz started on the mound and took the loss allowing 4 runs 3 earned in 5 innings while scattering 4 hits.  Philip Kahn pitched an inning in relief allowing 6 runs 2 earned.  Eric Liu pitched the final inning allowing no runs.

At the plate the Hilltoppers were led by Philip Kahn who was 2/4 with an RBI. Wyatt Nichter had 2 hits and an RBI and Jacob Hertz was 2/3.  Sam Fewell had a single and 2 RBIs. Trae Liston and Tyler Hill added  RBI singles. Casey Hill had a single.

SOFTBALL: HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers dropped their regular season finale to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin on Wednesday afternoon at Kops-Bedel Stadium. Hanover surrendered game one 10-0 before dropping game two 11-2.

GAME ONE
Hanover dropped the opener 10-0 after surrendering three runs in the fifth inning and seven in the sixth inning. The Panthers charted five hits led by sophomore Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) with two for the Blue and Red.

Sophomore Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start in the circle for Hanover throwing five and a third innings allowing 12 hits.

GAME TWO
The Panthers jumped onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning as sophomore Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) collected the RBI scoring Beaman, 1-0.

However, the excitement was short lived as the Grizzlies used a four run second inning and a four run third inning to surge ahead 8-2.
They secured the conference sweep in the top of the fifth inning scoring three runs en rote to the win.

Senior Courtney Chookie (Warsaw, Ind.) got the start in the circle pitching

Hanover returns to action the weekend of May 11-13 when they compete as part of the HCAC Tournament.
