NBA Draft, U of L, Golf, Baseball

Romeo Langford is trading-in his cream and crimson for green and white.  The Boston Celtics selected Langford with the 14th pick in last night's NBA Draft. The Pacers used their pick, the 18th overall, to select European center Goga Bitadze. Purdue's Carsen Edwards went in the second round at number 33 also to the Celtics after a trade with the 76ers.

 

Kentucky's Keldon Johnson is the third Wildcat to be chosen in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft.  The freshman guard was picked 29th overall last night by the San Antonio Spurs.  Kentucky forward P.J. Washington was 12th pick overall by Charlotte and guard Tyler Herro followed at 13th pick by Miami.  
 

The UofL baseball team remains alive at the College World Series.  The Cardinals eliminated Mississippi State with a, 4-3, win last night in Omaha. The win means the Cards will face Vanderbilt tonight.

 

Madison’s Brandon Tereshko fell to a tie for 18th at one over in the Indiana Amateur Golf Championships in Noblesville. Tereshko 10 strokes behind the leader after the 3rd round.

 

 

 

Former Madison Cub, Ryan Thurston on the mound last night for the Gary South Shore Railcats against Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. Thurston struck out two of the four batters he faced in a scoreless bottom of the sixth, as the Redhawks defeat the Railcats 2-1 for the first time since 2012.
