Hanover Football falls

Friday, November 22nd:

The Hanover College men's basketball team used a balanced attack to dominate Westminster (Mo.) on Friday evening as part of the opening round of the Webster Classic, 91-57. The Panthers (3-0 overall) saw five players finish in double digits.

 

The Hanover College women's basketball team looked to rally but came up short on Friday evening as they fell in non-conference action at Spalding, 76-62. The Panthers (1-2 overall) were led on the day by senior Alexis Nall with her first double-double of the season. The senior netted 20 points while hauling in 13 rebounds.

Switzerland Co. defeats Rising Sun 56-22.  Josie Meyer 16, Kyah Chase 14 for the Lady Pacers.

Saturday, November 23rd:

The Hanover Panthers saw their season come to an end on Saturday afternoon in Alliance, Ohio as they fell to No. 1 ranked Mount Union, 65-14 in the opening round of the NCAA DIII National Football Championships. Panthers came into the game with many injuries to their starters. Kyle Treber, HCAC Defensive Player of the Year was out after a elbow injury against Franklin, All-Conference DL Devonte Hardiman out with a back injury, Sam Smith, All-Conference OL out with a knee, Noah Wezensky, All-Conference QB out with a knee, Jacob Metzler, 2nd team All-Conference center, ankle injury suffered in the Rose Hulman game, as well as DL Zikk Omoruly with a leg injury suffered against Mt. St. Joseph. 

 

Sophomore Arig Tong wrapped up the season with her second consecutive visit to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships hosted by Spalding University and the Louisville Sports Commission. The sophomore phenom ran the race in a time of 23:01.6 for a 124th place finish among the 277-runner field. Her visit to the NCAA Division III Championship marks the fourth female runner in school history to compete in the event.

 

The Hanover men's basketball team, led by junior Issac Hibbard 17 points, defeated Webster on Saturday afternoon to remain perfect on the season, 65-58.

 

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL:

Southwestern wins their 5th game in a row with a 52-41 victory over South Dearborn. Ellie Foley, Isabel Brooks, Bella Marcum all finish with 11pts and Ashton Goode with 10pts. Best start for the Lady Rebels since 2011. Southwestern hosts Madison on Wednesday in the Annual Turkey Shootout.

Madison falls to 3A #2 Salem 68-59. Jade Nutley had 17 and Lundun Perry 15 for the Lady Cubs.

Switzerland Co. now has won three straight and four out of their first five games with a 51-41 win over Franklin Co. Aleiah Thomas 11, Jessie Duvall 10 for the Lady Pacers.
