The Reese's Division III All-Star game will be played at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 16, in Fort Wayne, Ind., at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The contest will be played prior to the NCAA Division III Tournament National Championship. Teams are composed of two senior student-athletes from each of the eight regions in Division III, as well as two seniors selected by online voting through D3hoops.com and two seniors selected by the All-Star game committee.

NABC ALL-STAR RELEASE

Fails is one of three players from the Great Lakes region to make the squad and is the lone player representing the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and an institution from the Hoosier state.

Additionally, Fails is receiving his second first team all-region accolade and is the first player in program history to be named D3hoops.com Regional Player of the Year. The senior was announced prior to the start of the 2018-19 campaign as a preseason All-American by D3hoops and Street & Smith's Annual Basketball Yearbook. Fails is also the lone representative from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on the D3hoops.com all-region team and is now an eligible nominee for the organization's All-American award.

The senior finished the season with a conference-best 20.9 points per game, while also setting career-high marks in rebounds (4.3), assists (4.3) and steals (2.2) per game. For his efforts, Fails was named HCAC Most Valuable Player and HCAC Tournament MVP for the second consecutive year and was tabbed the league's player of the week on four occasions. On a national level, Fails was announced as a top 100 finalist for the Bevo Franics Award, given to the top small college basketball player in the country from NCAA Division II and III, or the NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA, as well as a top 10 national finalist for the Jostens Trophy, the Division III Player of the Year award for basketball, academic and community service excellence.

Hanover compiled a 21-7 record this season, including a 14-4 mark in HCAC play. The Panthers won their third straight HCAC regular season and tournament championships en route to a third consecutive NCAA Division III National Tournament bid. The Blue and Red were defeated by Wheaton (Ill.) in the opening round, who will be playing the national semifinals this weekend.

During his collegiate career, Fails was a part of a program that had six total conference championships, three NCAA National Tournament appearances – including a run to the Elite Eight in 2016-17 – and an overall record of 83-30 (.735). The senior also finished his career with 1,780 points, which ranks fifth all-time at Hanover.
