Southwestern opened up its season by winning 3 straight today in the Southwestern Invitational Tournament.

Southwestern defeated Switzerland County 2-0: 25-14, 25-20

Southwestern defeated South Decatur 2-1: 26-28, 25-12, 15-12

Southwestern defeated Rock Creek Academy 2-0: 25-11, 25-16

Jenna Owens had 28 kills, 6 aces, and 29 digs.

Rorie Scroggins had 14 kills, 1 block, and 4 digs.

Hadlie Buchanan had 9 kills, 6 aces, and 14 digs.

Quote from Southwestern Head Coach Chris Johnson about the Tournament that Southwestern hosted on Saturday : All the girls played well today. I was very happy with our serving and defense. Our offense was a little slow to start but got better as the day went along. Several players impressed me today by how they played and how prepared we looked as a team. Hillarie Buchanan did a great job of running our offense and keeping our players on their toes. Jenna Owens was undoubtedly the star of the tournament today. She led our offense with good swings and decision making and she was aggressive throughout the day. Her hustle and defensive performance were outstanding as well. Overall, I am very proud of all the girls today. We showed a lot of determination and grit today.
