Quote from Madison Head Coach Jake Shockley : I've been doing this so long, I feel like I can write the script for how the season is going to go. Once again, we're trying to get everything to come together. Last week, our ball striking was good, but our putting was lacking. Now tonight, our putting was very good, but the ball striking wasn't there. I do think the girls are pressing a bit to be good because they know their potential, but anyone involved with golf knows you can't cut the corners. You have to go through the process.
Emmi was solid for us as usual, but even she knows she left some out there tonight. I think they all would tell you that, save Izzie. Izzie was kind of the story tonight. Tera (Scharlau) had moved into the starting lineup, and Izzie moved into the sixth slot. Tera has been really solid for us lately, but she aggravated an old knee injury in cheerleading, and she wasn't able to play tonight. Izzie stepped right in and was huge for us this evening. Izzie has been working very hard to move back into the lineup, and if she stays consistent, it's going to make my life harder figuring out who to place in the lineup. It's a good problem to have, though.
We seem to operate better in tournaments with this group, so I'm eager to see how we perform at New Palestine on Saturday.
SOCCER: Shawe 7, Christian Academy of Indiana 0
Quote from Shawe Head Coach Ron Lanham : Shawe girls opened their season tonight against a very fiscal Christian academy Indiana out of New Albany with a 7 to 2 win. Scoring started mid way through the first half when Jenna Flint took a deflection off the goalie. Then Taytum Gray brought one in from the left wing and buired one from about 10 yards out. Then with about 5 minutes left in the first the warriors scord after about 3 deflection in the box it slipped by goalie Odyssey Felix We lead 2 to 1 at half. Second half we got 3 goals from Maria Ameca-mendoza and 1 from Justice Kuntz then they scored an on goal and then 1 of their own with about 25 minutes to go. Shawe out shot the warriors 30 to 4 with multiple shots carring over the cross bar.0 Shawe play next in the Oldenburg tournament Saturday facing FW Cantabury first at 11am
