Local Sports Report 1-16 through 1-17

A congratulations is in order for Madison’s Kelsey Bilz. She won the school’s first-ever state championship in wrestling over the weekend winning the title in the 106-pound weight class on Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL:

Friday:

Madison’s Boys defeated New Albany with a final score of 48 to 43.

Christian Academy of Madison beat Medora in the opening round of the Southern Roads Conference Tournament with a final score of 66 to 47.

Saturday:

Christian Academy of Madison’s boy's basketball lost 73 to 48 over the weekend to Evansville Christian in the Southern Roads Conference Tournament. Christian Academy is not 10 and 6 in their season.

Christian Academy’s Clay Carter had 20 points and 6 assists teammate Jaxon Miller scored 18 points on 6, 3-pointers.

Trimble County Boys fell to North Oldham 100 to 81. They will be back in play beginning today with a triple header at home against Grant County.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL:

Friday:

Carroll County girls picked up their first win of the season against Kentucky Country Day with the final score of 47 to 31. The Panthers are now 1-4 in the season.

Madison Girls defeated Corydon Central 53-52. Madison is now 7 – 10 in the season.

Saturday:

Trimble County Lady Raiders defeated North Hardin 42 to 40. Shelby Wilcoxson scored 25 points to lead the Raiders, who are now 2 and 3 in the season.

WRESTLING:

In the Southern Indiana Wrestling Conference, Switzerland Counties Jacob Wolf won the 132-pound title, and teammate Tyler Lieland took tome the 170-pound title. Southwestern’s Brady McLain also came out victorious with the 220-pound title.

Madison is now 30 – 3 in the season following a weekend of wins against Seymour, North Knox,  and one loss against Perry Meridian

Switzerland Counties meet against Scottsburg set for Tuesday, January 19 has been canceled.

SWIMMING:

Area schools competed in the ORVC Swimming Championship over the weekend the final standings are as follows:
