Southwestern And Madison Boys Basketball Season Comes To An End

The high school boys basketball season came to a close on Saturday as both Southwestern and Madison fall in the sectional championships.

Southwestern's quest for a 3rd title in a row came at the hands of a hot shooting Providence team 87-66, that shot 59% from the field and 58% from above the arch compared to the Rebels 36% from the field and 29% above the arch. Southwestern was led by Foster Mefford with 32 points and Zack Cole with 16. Mefford talked with 95.3 WIKI after the game: (edit)

The Pioneers won their first sectional title since 2016 will take on #10 South Spencer at the Southridge Regional on Saturday.

As for Madison they finish the season at 13-13 as they fall to #1 Silver Creek 70-53. Cubs were led by Mason Welsh and Luke Miller with 14 each. The defending 3A state champion Dragons will take on #2 Heritage Hills in the Washington Regional.
