With the Gulf Coast League regular season ended, Madison's Ryan Thurston (1-2, 0.90 ERA, 0.77 WHIP) has been promoted to the Bluefield Blue Jays in Bluefield, WV — Toronto's Appalachian League affiliate — with 3 regular season games plus playoffs left.

Fourth-generation powerboat racer, Andrew Tate became the only father and son drivers to win the Gold Cup as Tate in the U-9 won the event in Detroit yesterday. His father Mark, who won the Gold Cup in 1991 and 1994. Jimmy Shane in the Miss Homestreet/Miss Madison finished 2nd. With the win Tate also clinched the high point championship. One race left in San Diego September 14-16.
