(North Vernon, Ind.) – A North Vernon woman was arrested on Tuesday evening following a report of an unconscious female in the middle of the roadway.
Deputies with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Montgomery Township in reference to an unconscious female sitting in her vehicle at the wheel and barely breathing. While responding to the call, Deputy Craig Hall located a vehicle matching the description given.
Deputy Hahn made contact with the female driver 27-year-old Constance Miller, and a 5 year-old-passenger.
Jennings County EMS arrived on the scene and provided care to both Miller and the child. After further investigation, it was determined that Miller was under the influence of illegal drugs. During the investigation deputies also located a controlled substance inside of the vehicle.
Miller was subsequently transported to the Jennings County Jail where she is currently being held. Deputies contacted the Department of Child Services who provided care for the child for approximately 2 hours until arrangements were made.
Miller is being held in the Jennings County Jail on the charges of:
- Operating While Intoxicated- Endangerment with a child under the age of 18 (level 6 felony)
- Neglect of a Dependent Child (level 6 felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (class a misdemeanor)
- Operating While Intoxicated (class c misdemeanor)
