Subject attempt to flee on foot

On October 3rd, 2019 at approximately 11:45 P.M. Sergeant Low attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Black 1994 Chevrolet S-10, driven by James “Matthew” Romero, 31, North Vernon after narrowly avoiding a head on collision due to the vehicle being in Sgt. Low’s travel lane on County Road 300 North.

Sgt. Low activated his emergency red and blue lights, however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed near the intersection of County Road 300 North and County Road 350 West. Romero shut off the lights of the pickup in attempt to elude Sgt. Low. The vehicle turned Northbound near County Road 275 West and drove through a yard.

The vehicle continued to a residence where Romero jumped from moving pickup and attempted to flee on foot. Sgt. Low’s patrol vehicle sustained minor front-end damage from the pursuit. Romero ran into the garage, then into the home. A perimeter was established and a short time later Romero was taken into custody without further incident.
