(Versailles, Ind.) - Local firefighters responded to an active fire alarm at a nursing home on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out in the attic area at Silver Memories Nursing Home, just south of Versailles.
Versailles Firefighters assisted New Marion VFD in evacuating 25 residents from the facility. South Ripley Schools and Manderly Nursing Home provided additional transportation for the residents to other facilities.
According to the Versailles Fire Rescue the fire was contained to the attic area, and no injuries were reported.
Assisting at the scene was Osgood VFD, Ripley County EMS, Napoleon VFD, Friendship VFD, Milan VFD, and the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
