Bartholomew County Sheriff Injured In Altercation At Jail

According to sheriff deputies, Justin C. Eddlemann, 32, of Columbus, entered the lobby and told the front desk staff that he planned to commit serious bodily harm to Meyers.

(Bartholomew County, Ind.) – Around 10:00 a.m. Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Meyers was injured after a local man entered the jail and engaged in a physical confrontation.

According to sheriff deputies, Justin C. Eddlemann, 32, of Columbus, entered the lobby and told the front desk staff that he planned to commit serious bodily harm to Meyers.

The Republic reported that Eddelman was accused of leaving the lobby and going upstairs to the administrative area where he engaged in physical confrontation with Meyer.

Meyers subdued Eddelman and placed him in handcuffs. Meyers injured a knee during the altercation.

Eddelman was taken to the Columbus Regional Hospital for evaluation, and then transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
