(Carrollton, Ky.) – Carrollton Mayor Robb Adams took to Facebook live yesterday to discuss many things that will be happing around the city in the upcoming weeks.

Mayor Adams started out by thanking he essential workers who worked through the shutdown and who are continuing to work now.  He also gave an update on the coronavirus cases within the county, as of June 24, there have been 28 cases. Not all cases are active, these are cases that have been seen since the beginning.

Mayor Adams stated that 16 of the 28 cases are recovered and the other 12 are recovering.

“Please continue to be mindful, and if it works for you, and if you feel the need to, please continue to social distance. Especially with the people who have not been around on a regular basis, continue to wash your hands often, and wear a mask if it works for you.”

Mayor Adams also announced some important dates that many residents will be excited to hear.

The first announced was the Carroll County Fair from August 17 through the 22, is still scheduled to take place. Mayor Adams stated that he is working with the fair board president, on what the county fair will look like.

These changes are being made with the guidelines distributed by Governor Beshear’s office.

“All regular events are expected to continue, as for the 4-H exhibits those will be handled by the extension office since they have their own rules to follow,” said Mayor Adams.

With the upcoming Independence Day holiday, the fireworks are still going to be taking place on September 5.

Other events that are still planned are the Tobacco Festival from October 1 through 3, and Bands and BBQ September 11 through 13.

“Please know and understand that between now and their respective dates that things may change, and they may not go on due to the guidelines changing again,” said Mayor Adams.

On May 21, Two Rivers Campground reopened to campers, but the bathhouses and playgrounds remained closed.

Campers can now begin to use those areas on June 29.

Another reopening that many residents have been asking about is Point Park and the splash park.

Both will reopen on July 1, with the pavilions reopening it is important to remember that this is for gatherings of 50 people or less to follow guidelines set by Gov. Beshear.

There will also be guidelines to follow for the splash park as well, the guidelines are as follows:

  • There are only 40 people allowed in the splash park at a time.
    • This is the area that has water on it, not including the picnic tables inside the fence.
  •  Masks are asked to be worn in the area surrounding the splash park
  • If at capacity do not form lines, wait elsewhere until it is your turn

Hand sanitizer will be placed in areas around the park, picnic tables, and bathrooms will be cleaned every hour. There will also be signs posted around the area with the rules, and workers will be counting the number of people in the water area.

“At this point we haven’t set a time limit because we don’t know if there has ever been an issue with having 40 people in the area. If it becomes a problem, we will then address a time limit,” said Mayor Adams.

The hours for the splash park are Monday through Sunday noon to 8:00 p.m.

Mayor Adams also announced that the new boat dock will be coming soon, and at this time the old dock has been installed at the 5th street ramp.
