Resurfacing repairs to be made on 11 roadways

During a visit to Trimble County Thursday, Governor Matt Bevin announced a total of $514,963 in discretionary funds for resurfacing work in the cities of Bedford and Milton, as well as resurfacing and slide repair in Trimble County. Resurfacing repairs address existing surface cracks, potholes, raveling, and base failures. The investment supports Governor Bevin’s commitment to prioritize transportation infrastructure projects and increase economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.

“We are pleased today to announce the investment of discretionary road funding for Trimble County and the cities of Bedford and Milton,” said Gov. Bevin. “Our Transportation Cabinet has worked closely with local officials to identify priority projects that will significantly enhance safety, access, and economic opportunity for community residents.”

In Bedford, $60,000 has been awarded for resurfacing on Pendleton Avenue, Alexander Avenue, and Rowlett Avenue.

“I want to express my extreme thanks to Governor Matt Bevin and the state of Kentucky for the allocation of discretionary funding that we are going to receive to help with the infrastructure for our community,” said Bedford Mayor Joe Robinson. “We are a small city with not a lot of funding opportunities so this will be a monumental boost for us to continue growing and becoming a place people want to call home. Once again thank you Governor Bevin.”

In Trimble County, $394,063 has been awarded for resurfacing and slide repair on Coopers Bottom Road. Judge-Executive Todd Pollock identified this road as being among the most critical in the county.

“On behalf of the citizens of Trimble County, I want to express my gratitude for Governor Bevin’s commitment to Beautify the Bluegrass, especially my favorite part of rural Kentucky, Trimble county,” said Judge-Executive Pollock. “This discretionary funding will allow for the completion of some much needed projects around the county. It will free up tax dollars to be used in other areas of the county.”

In Milton, $60,900 has been awarded for resurfacing on Spring Street, Pyles Lane, Maple Street, Raker Road, Toleiha Lane, Bayne Street, and High Street.

Projects submitted to the Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for discretionary fund consideration were evaluated by the KYTC district staff to assess the condition of roads and determine the most critical needs based on factors such as safety, economic impact, and traffic volumes.

“I’m pleased to learn that Trimble County has received funding for these much-needed resurfacing projects,” said Sen. Paul Hornback. “Nothing is more essential to a successful community than having safe roadways, and I look forward to the completion of these infrastructure upgrades.”

The upcoming roadwork will improve several county roads and city streets that will benefit several homes and businesses.

“Like others who use these roads regularly, I am happy to see these projects be funded and look forward to the day when this work is complete,” said Rep. Rick Rand.  “Everyone benefits from smoother and safer roads.”

Local government agencies are responsible for administering the projects, and KYTC will reimburse the county and cities for the work.
