Area Nonprofits Receive Funding for Projects Spanning Jefferson County

The Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County awarded over $200,000 in grants at their annual grants reception on October 1, to 19 nonprofit organizations that serve Jefferson County residents. With help from these grants, a wide variety of people will benefit through unique projects and initiatives.

The annual grant awards are made possible by the Community Foundation’s Flexible Community Funds and Field of Interest Endowment Funds. To be considered for funding, agencies submitted an online application and, in the case of the finalists, were visited and interviewed by members of the Foundation’s Grants Committee.

The nonprofit agencies and philanthropic projects that received grant funding include: The City of Madison, The City of Madison Fire Department, Deputy Volunteer Fire Company, Dupont-Lancaster Township Volunteer Fire Department, Englishton Park Presbyterian Ministries, Inc., Girls Inc. of Jefferson County, Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County, Hanover College, Historic Eleutherian College, Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry, Jefferson County 4-H Club & Agricultural Association, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County Southpaws 4-H Dog Club, Lydia Middleton Elementary School, Madison Consolidated High School Athletics, Madison Performing Arts Foundation, Madison Youth Unlimited, Prince of Peace Catholic Schools, and the Venture Out Business Center Foundation, Inc.

“Our committee is often asked for more than twice the amount that we have available to grant,” said Grants Committee Chair Ann Suchocki. “It is an honor to serve with a committee that is committed to the process and have the challenging task of determining the best investment of grant dollars available from the Community Foundation.”
