Conservation Officers Investigate Possible Black Bear Sighting in Floyd County

Near I-64

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a potential Black Bear sighting after a motor vehicle accident involving a large animal on Interstate 64 near mile marker 121 yesterday evening. The incident occurred around 8 p.m.

Witness accounts by the operator of the vehicle, as well as at least one other witness to the accident, led officers to search the area for the animal. The darkness and rugged, brushy terrain of the area limited the search.

Officers will be checking the area today for additional clues to positively identify the animal involved.

Officers with the New Albany Police Department also assisted with the search at the scene.
