County Commissioners Taking Bids For New Building

(Jefferson County, Ind.) – The Jefferson County Commissioners are now accepting bids to design and construct a building to store Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Emergency Management Agency EMA) equipment, and Jefferson County Health Department equipment.

Jefferson County is requesting a proposal from experienced design and construction firms, the firm chosen will be expected to provide the necessary range of services to fulfill the role of General Contractor to lead the construction desired for the facility.

Those firms responding must have experience in requirements associated with this project.

Project Goals:

  • The Design and Construct a 140’ x 40’ – 120’ x 40’  L-shaped pole barn 16’ tall, with 6 – 14’ x 12’ insulated overhead doors.
  • The building is to be heated by natural gas.  Natural gas service in proximity to location of new building.
  • The building is to have insulated walls and ceiling with an option for foam.
  • The floors of the building are to be 6” concrete floors with 6” stone, compacted, and wire mesh.  The floors should be reinforced with rebar around overhead doors.
  • The interior walls and ceiling of the building is to be metal lined. 
  • There needs two – 36” steel doors with ¼ light.

The general electronic specifications for the building are below:

  • Two 200amp service (1 for each side)
  • Four 4’ LED lights every 10’ of ceiling
  • Two wall plugs every 10’

  • Water and wastewater service installed with adequate floor drainage on each side
  • Two bathrooms with shower (1 each side)

The outside specifications for the around the building are below:

  • Extend existing parking lot to service new construction on all six sides with proper drainage using a minimum of 4” asphalt with compacted aggregate base.

The entire project is to be completed by Monday, December 21, 2020.
