Innocence til proven guilty

April 20, 2022, Madison Police arrested Thomas L. Adams 50, Madison, Indiana, on a firearms related charge. Admas was stopped in the 1500 block of Clifty Drive, by Patrolman Curtis Shelpman, for an expired license plate.
Patrolman Ben Flint and his K-9 partner MEKO responded, MEKO conducted an open air sniff around the exterior of Adams' vehicle. The K-9 gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.
The subsequent search of Adams' vehicle found him to be in possession of marijuana, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun. Adams has a prior felony conviction which prohibits the possession of a firearm.
Thomas Adams faces preliminary alleged charges of; possession of a gun by a convicted felon L-5 felony, and possession of marijuana class B misdemeanor. Adams has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty. Officers Nolan and Watson assisted with the traffic stop.
