Governor Beshear Announces COVID-19 Relief Funds For Eligible Kentuckians

These funds are for eligible households, local governments, as well as bars and restaurants. 

(Frankfort, Ky.) – During yesterday's media briefing, Governor Andy Beshear announced that many COVID-19 relief funds are still accessible for Kentuckians. These funds are for eligible households, local governments, as well as bars and restaurants. 

Households:

Beshear stated that there is about $11 million remaining in the Healthy at Home Utility Relief fund. This fund provides relief to Kentuckians affected by COVID-19 who need assistance with their water, wastewater, electric, or natural gas service.

“Eligible households can receive a one-time $500 benefit towards their water and or wastewater bills and $400 towards their natural gas or utility bills,” said Gov. Beshear.

Households who have an income of up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Line and have been impacted economically due to COVID-19 are eligible to apply.

Local Governments:

Beshear also announced that that the Kentucky Department for Local Government will be releasing an additional $50 million in CARES Act funding to reimburse city and county governments for COVID-19 related expenses.

There are approximately 200 cities and counties that are eligible for this funding due to having expenses already exhausted. Eligible local governments may view the application guidelines here.

Bars and Restaurants:

The last relief fund that Beshear announced was the Kentucky Food and Beverage Relief Fund. This fund available to businesses that are defined as bars or restaurants:

  • Bars - a business that holds a valid retail liquor by the drink license and serves drinks for on-site consumption.
  • Restaurants - a business that makes prepared meals in single quantities one customer at a time for on-site consumption.
